A Third Growth Grand Cru Classé from the Saint-Julien appellation of Bordeaux. The 1994 growing season featured a hot, sunny summer disrupted by heavy September rains just before harvest, resulting in a typically muscular Left Bank vintage with firm structure. Appearance: Deep dark ruby-red transitioning into an elegant garnet or brick-red rim due to its extensive age. Aroma: A restrained and highly savoury bouquet dominated by graphite, cedar, and old leather. Subtle underlying notes of dried red cherry, spearmint, and forest floor (sous-bois) unfold as it breathes. Palate: Fully mature and medium-bodied, showing dark cherry and leafy fruit flavors. Reflecting the characteristic traits of the 1994 vintage, it retains a prominent backbone of firm, grainy tannins and a relatively high, gripping acidity that highlights the rustic wood and mineral notes. Finish: Lean and structured, fading reasonably quickly on a dry, savoury note. Part of the "5 Star Provenance Sale - Avid Wine Collector." sale on Grays.
