Full Description

The premium flagship of the Classic McLaren range. It reflects the power, concentration, and substantial oak treatment characteristic of top-tier McLaren Vale reds from the late 1990s. Appearance: Originally exhibiting a very deep crimson-purple colour, well-cellared bottles now present a mature, bright brick-red hue. Aroma: A powerful, concentrated oak-driven bouquet. It releases classic secondary aromas of leather, warm spice, toasted oak, and hints of earth, lifted by delicate undertones of violets. Palate: Rich, deep, and boasting an impressive initial weight and mouthfeel. The mid-palate delivers a concentrated layer of ripe plum, dark chocolate, dark fruits, and liquorice, heavily supported by prominent, sweet oak components. Finish: Highly balanced with fine-grained, integrated tannins. It is relatively short to medium in length, leaving a lingering aftertaste of baking spice, plum, and soft vanilla. This vintage is fully mature. While the massive oak profile and rich dark fruit provided excellent structure for initial cellaring, it has reached the end of its evolutionary curve. It is highly recommended to open and enjoy it soon. Decant gently just before serving to separate the liquid from any natural sediment that has accumulated over the decades. Part of the "5 Star Provenance Sale - Avid Wine Collector." sale on Grays.
