A rare, beautifully structured Super Tuscan red wine produced near San Gimignano in Tuscany, Italy.Crafted almost entirely from Cabernet Sauvignon (with a tiny touch of Merlot), this wine was aged for over two years in French oak barriques. The 1995 vintage is a classic example of a fully mature, old-school Tuscan Cabernet that leans into complex, savoury territory rather than aggressive fruit. Colour: Deep garnet-brick red with a soft orange-brown hue on the rim, reflecting its significant bottle aging. Nose: Highly evolved, complex, and distinctively rustic. It opens with tertiary aromas of leather, tobacco, and cedar wood, underpinned by notes of dried redcurrants, roast figs, balsamic, and dark truffles. Palate: Soft, medium-bodied, and beautifully balanced. It features mellowed flavours of stewed plums, cassis, and black tea. The once-grippy tannins have completely resolved into a silky, powdery texture, supported by a fine line of natural acidity. Finish: Long, warm, and drying, leaving behind lingering notes of forest floor, smoked peat, and a hint of black pepper. Part of the "5 Star Provenance Sale - Avid Wine Collector." sale on Grays.
