Crafted by acclaimed winemaker Rolf Binder, the 1999 Hanisch Shiraz is a legendary representation of small-batch Barossa artistry.Sourced from a prized, low-yielding section of the Chri-Ro vineyard planted in 1972, the fruit was harvested at optimal flavour ripeness before traditional open fermentation.Following on from the global acclaim of the late-90s releases, the 1999 vintage shows a more approachable, seamless, and integrated structure.Now fully matured after decades in the cellar, this rare museum release beautifully balances opulent, dark-hearted Barossa power with velvet-smooth textures. Colour: Deep, dark ruby-garnet with a heavy core and dense, mature violet-brick highlights. Nose: Intensely aromatic and expressive, bursting with jammy black fruits, sweet nougat, and liquorice, complexly layered with new saddle leather, white pepper, and a subtle lift of tea tree oil. Palate: Voluptuous, powerful, and concentrated, offering an opulent wave of dark berry confit, spice, and dark chocolate. The mouthfeel is exceptionally seamless, framed by dense but perfectly supple, ripe tannins.
