Condition: As-is
Introduced in 1970, the Hasselblad 500C/M refined a camera system that had become central to professional photography. Its interchangeable backs, finders and Zeiss lenses gave photographers the flexibility to work across portraiture, fashion and advertising, while its square format became closely associated with magazine and music imagery. Terry O’Neill used a 500C/M for his celebrated portrait of Faye Dunaway after her Oscar win. Earlier cameras in the 500 family also documented spaceflight, bringing Hasselblad’s name to a global audience. That combination of practical design and cultural history keeps the 500C/M highly regarded by photographers and collectors. Camera and film backs - The body is in great cosmetic condition with minimal wear. The waist-level finder is clear and free of haze, with minor dust visible on the mirror and magnifier. - The mirror and rear shutters open and close normally. The advance crank turns smoothly with positive resistance. - Film back UT 486716 is in good condition and remains loaded with film. It is marked “100 NEG”, but the film stock is unknown. It was not opened to preserve the roll; its chamber condition is uninspected. - Film back RV 3184800 is in very good condition with minor metal contact wear. Its film chamber is in great condition; the winding crank and dark slide operate smoothly. Lenses - Carl Zeiss Planar 80mm f/2.8: Good cosmetic condition with minor wear and some light internal dust and debris. Focus, aperture and shutter speed controls turn smoothly, with distinct setting steps, and the leaf shutter fires at all selected speeds. Includes original Hasselblad hood and front and rear caps. - Carl Zeiss Sonnar 150mm f/4: Fair cosmetic condition with marks and scratches consistent with use. Focus and setting controls operate smoothly, and the leaf shutter fires at all selected speeds. Front and rear glass appear free of major scratches or fungus; minor internal obstructions are visible. Includes hood and front and rear caps. Finders and accessories - The Hasselblad eye-level finder shows finish wear and scratches, including deeper marks. Its view is clear, with no major internal obstruction visible, and the rubber remains in good condition. - The Sekonic light meter responds to changes in light; accuracy is untested. Its leather pouch has minor wear. - Includes a camera strap in very good condition, body cap, original Hasselblad base plate, lens filters, two printed instruction manuals and an unopened, expired roll of Ilford FP4+ 125 120 film. Disclaimer: Sold as is. Please refer to the photographs as part of the condition description. The kit has received a visual inspection and basic function checks only and has not been film tested. Shutter speed and light meter accuracy, light tightness and optical performance have not been professionally assessed. The loaded film back was not opened, so its film stock and chamber condition remain unverified. The expired film’s usability is unknown.
