Introduced in 1958, the Nikon S3 was developed alongside the flagship SP near the height of Nikon’s rangefinder era. Its bright, life-size viewfinder has built-in frames for 35mm, 50mm and 105mm lenses. Nikon’s S3 and SP remained in the hands of press photographers even as the Nikon F brought professional photography towards SLRs. The S3’s lasting appeal led Nikon to reproduce it as a Millennium model in 2000. This is an original S3 with a lens for each of its three finder frames. The additional finders, Nikon cases and guide make it a substantial example of the rangefinder system for collectors. Camera and case - Nikon S3 body, serial number 6313453. - Near mint condition with faint marks on the metal. - Clear viewfinder with an easy to see rangefinder patch. - Focus dial and ring operate smoothly. - Shutter fires at all selected speeds. - Advance lever and rewind crank operate smoothly. - Film chamber is immaculate. - Original Nikon two piece leather case shows age related wear. W-Nikkor.C 3.5cm f/3.5 - Serial number 434259. - Good condition with minimal wear. - Focus and aperture controls move smoothly. - Aperture ring has distinct clicks. - Glass appears clear of obvious obstructions. - Includes metal front and rear caps and an original Nikon leather pouch. Nikkor-P.C 10.5cm f/2.5 - Serial number 813257. - Good condition with minor finish wear on the focus ring grip. - Glass appears clear of obvious obstructions. - Includes metal front and rear caps and a lens hood. - Original Nikon leather lens case shows age related wear. Finders and guide - Two Nikon external viewfinders. Both appear optically clear. - Finder serial 351454 is in fair condition with age related marks. - Finder serial 359572 is in great condition and includes its original Nikon leather case. - Includes Nikon Guide by Kenneth S.
