Full Description

- 13 H x 14 W cm (images); 16 H x 17 W cm (sheets); 33 H x 33 W cm (frames) - Both works are editioned 24 of 90 lower left alongside HC VI-03 and HCVII-03 lower left beneath image margins; this details the precise positioning of these specific pieces within van der Sluy's archival numbering system; the HC translating to Hors Commerce ('outside of commerce' or 'not for sale') further indicates that these pieces were no part of the standard commercial market editions - they may have been gifts or gallery/archive copies - and are usually much rarer - van der sluys was a prominent Australian printmaker and artist celebrated for his striking, hand-coloured linocuts and woodblock prints that captured the unique beauty of Australia's native flora and fauna; in his formative years he worked as an assistant to John Brack - For more information about this artist, with a remembrance by Barry Humphries, please see - https://www.kaycraddock.com/pages/marginal-notes/12/marginal-notes-6-remembering-leslie-van-der?srsltid=AfmBOoqg4p5j5uY8czts_JfZ6YyC838qKYjAr96VsGODbJ-My10Z1YGN - This pair of linocuts are nicely and professionally framed; frames and works in very good overall condition
