- 52 H x 70 W cm (image); 70 H x 87 W cm (frame) - This work is unsigned - However verso top left there is some information with an attached label translating to - Van Den Bosch, 1786, Redess le au vernis Rembrandt (1960) [Redone using Rembrandt varnish in 1960], alongside a galley or collection number - G.F.N. 51 - This could not have been Paulus Ban Den Bosch due to the year, however the surname is a classic Flemish/Dutch one and the van den Boschname was known with several artistic generations of families - The work comes from Belgium after WWII and is from a private collection downsizing - This work is an example of a Flemish School pastoral landscape from 1786; it was created during a pre-revolutionary era in modern-day Belgiu, wje artists masterfully blended local traditions with nostalgic Dutch-style atmospheres - The work is beautifully framed in an antique gilt gesso ornate frame; because the work is on an oak panel there is a distinct set of lines in the middle of the work where two panels may have been joined together; some usual wear to frame; some slight craquelure particularly bottom right; otherwise for age; this work is in remarkably good condition
