Boxwood Estate 'Topiary' Bordeaux Blend 2014 Hailing from the historic Middleburg AVA in Virginia, this refined estate blend—typically dominated by Cabernet Franc and Merlot—draws inspiration from classic Left Bank Bordeaux. Over a decade of bottle age has allowed this 2014 vintage to soften, trading its youthful grip for complex tertiary layers. Colour: Medium garnet with a distinct brick-red rim showing its age. Nose: An earth-forward, savoury bouquet featuring dried red currants, sour cherries, and crushed autumn leaves, layered with cedar box, tobacco, and a touch of dried green herbs. Palate: Medium-bodied and structurally focused. It delivers lean red fruit flavours balanced by a distinct rustic mineral drive and bright, food-friendly acidity. Finish: Clean, dry, and distinctly savoury, with fine-grained, chalky tannins that leave a lingering note of graphite and dried spice. Broc Cellars Nero d'Avola 2017 Crafted by natural winemaker Chris Brockway in Berkeley, California, this wine uses fruit from the Fox Hill Vineyard in Mendocino. Unlike its heavy, sun-baked Sicilian counterparts, this version is picked early to highlight freshness, resulting in a bright, energetic, and highly refreshing style. Colour: Vibrant, translucent ruby red.Nose: Lifted and highly aromatic, bursting with fresh pomegranate, sour cherry, and wild strawberries, accented by a distinct iron-like minerality and a hint of white pepper. Palate: Light to medium-bodied, dancing across the palate with crunchy red fruit flavours and an electric, mouth-watering acidity. It feels remarkably alive and effortless to drink. Finish: Crisp and highly energetic, finishing clean with minimal tannic drag and a lingering, refreshing burst of tart red berry zest. Part of the "Curated Fine Wine Collection :: Feat. Pinot Noir" sale on Grays.
