Full Description

Item Includes: 1x 00 Wines VGW Chardonnay 2015 1x 00 Wines VGW Chardonnay 2016 The acclaimed flagship Willamette Valley white wine from Chris and Kathryn Hermann’s luxury Oregon project 00 Wines.Crafted alongside legendary Burgundian consulting winemaker Pierre-Millemann, these wines are famous for using the intensive "black chardonnay" method. This process involves aggressively crushing and intentionally oxidising the juice before fermentation, which ultimately creates a remarkably stable, deeply complex white wine with spectacular ageability. 2015 Aroma: A powerful, expressive bouquet featuring ripe lemon curd, grilled pineapple, and toasted hazelnuts, underlaid by distinctive notes of striking flint, matchstick reduction, and white blossoms. Palate: Voluptuous, broad, and deeply textured. The palate is coated in rich flavours of yellow peach, lemon pith, and dynamic baking spices, balanced by a surprisingly firm baseline of saline minerality. Character: This is a grander, more opulent, and unctuous style compared to the 2016. Its layers have completely melded together, making it a highly indulgent, multi-dimensional drinking experience right now. 2016 Aroma: Precise and highly focused, opening with crisp Granny Smith apple, lime zest, and white nectarine. The reductive, flinty character is sharper here, accompanied by aromas of wet stones and brioche. Palate: Taut, energetic, and laser-focused. While it possesses the signature 00 Wines creamy texture from extended barrel ageing, the palate is driven by a driving, mouthwatering citrus acidity and a chiselled, oyster-shell mineral spine. Character: A more classical, high-tensile, and linear expression than the 2015. It trades raw power for sheer elegance, structural tension, and vibrant energy.
