Bin 389 and other wines in the Penfolds Bin-range 'family' of red wines - 28, 128 and 707 - were the result of Max Schubert's constant experimentation during the 1950s and 1960s. Bin 389 combines the elegance of Cabernet Sauvignon with the richness of Shiraz and demonstrates the traditional Penfolds' trademark - balance between fruit and oak, in a wine with rich varietal characters and medium to long-term cellaring potential.
