Introduced in 1984, the 16803 marked the debut of steel and gold on Rolex’s flagship dive watch. With a production run of roughly four years before the 16613 took over in 1988, it remains one of the shortest-lived and most historically significant two-tone Submariner references. The original “Bluesy” dial. The metallic blue sunburst dial shifts from bright cobalt to deep navy depending on light, paired with a matching blue bezel insert in a yellow gold surround. This colourway established the look that defined every subsequent two-tone blue Submariner. Calibre 3035 movement. Part of the transitional 168xx generation, the 16803 was among the first Submariners to have a high-beat movement with quickset date, sapphire crystal, and an increased 300m depth rating, which bridged the vintage and modern eras of the model. Excellent condition. This is a pre-owned example presented in excellent condition with strong overall presentation of the case, dial, and bracelet for a reference of this age. Offered watch only, with Certificate of Authenticity. The watch is supplied without original box or papers. It comes with a Certificate of Authenticity, which gives the buyer independent verification at a lower entry point than full-set examples. (SN:16803) Part of the "Luxury Watches and Cases" sale on Grays.
