Private seller (not a government agency), listed on a platform we index for its fleet and equipment.
Condition: As-is
- 20 H x 20 W cm approx - This wonderful tile is estimated to be between 700-1000 years old; it was part of the floor of a mosque that was demolished by the late Shah (c1970s) to make way for a new expressway to the (then) new International Airport in Tehran - Under Islamic Law, mosques are not allowed to be demolished; this act of the Shah created some blood blood between himself and the Islamic religious authorities in Iran at the time - This particular tile was under an existing floor - Provenance - this work was originally purchased at auction and is now part of a private collection downsizing of Bill Wood AM, former Queensland and ACT Member of Parliament and Minister for the Arts, and his wife Beverly - For age, wonderful condition
