Summary The 3D alpha sand printer from Tinker Omega (now Sinto) is a prototype developed in the United States with the goal of creating a domestically produced printer. It was designed to be competitive with the limited number of similar systems currently available on the market. This printer was a prototype used to test out systems that would later be used on their Large-Scale Sand printer. This printer has a working area of roughly 16” x 14”. Concerns As a prototype, the machine has a few issues: • Printhead Issues: Early versions experienced frequent failures due to problems with the adhesive used in the printheads. This issue has been addressed in more recent iterations by switching to a more reliable adhesive. • Operating Computer: This printer does not have an attached computer to operate the computer. It will need a computer that can run the operating software to control the system • Stagnant: The system has been sitting unoperated a long time and may have some issues with it running. There is not much assistance or service available for getting this printer running again Location The printer is located on the first floor of TechWorks in Waterloo: 360 Westfield Ave, Waterloo, Iowa 50701 Removal Instructions Removal must be done by the purchaser. The printer itself has lifting pockets for assistance. An electrician may need to be hired for disconnecting the system.
