You are bidding on a Used: 1950 FIRE TOWER & STORAGE CONTAINER (223114 AJ) Operational, mechanical and cosmetic conditions may exist and are unknown. May have visible wear and tear on all items. Parts may be missing and or inoperable. -1 each: 1950 FIRE TOWER NOTE: Fire Tower Info GFC #16890 (includes GFC #70785) BLIPP ID #50789 (includes BLIPP ID #36730) Address: 25 Fire Tower Road, Covington, GA 30016 Coordinates: 33°32'47.7"N 83°54'44.2"W This fire tower was acquired by the Georgia Forestry Commission in December 1950. The tower stands approximately 60 feet tall and includes the small storage container located at its base. The lower two flights of stairs have been removed for safety reasons and to prevent unauthorized access. As a result, the cab could not be inspected. From ground level, the tower appears to be in fair condition, with minimal rust and no obvious structural damage to the metal frame. The wood stairs, platforms, and cab floor appear to have areas of rot and will likely require replacement. Overall, the tower exhibits wear consistent with its age and prior use. The storage container at the base of the tower has extensive rust and dents; however, the interior was dry on the day of inspection. The tower and storage container are located on a small lot in Covington, Georgia. There is open space to the south and west of the tower; however, woods border the north side, and a fence is located along the east side. Low-hanging power lines are also present nearby. Access to the property is limited due to a steep driveway entrance from the road and a narrow, sharp turn leading onto the lot. Because of these conditions, access with a semi-truck or other large equipment may be extremely difficult or impossible. Prospective bidders are strongly encouraged to inspect the property prior to placing a bid. The successful bidder will be responsible for dismantling and removing the tower and storage container within 30 days of the Bill of Sale being issued. No labor, equipment, or other assistance will be provided by the Georgia Forestry Commission or the State of Georgia.
