2013 Ford Explorer SPORT UTILITY 4-DR, 3.7L V6 DOHC 24V. 3.7L V6 AWD – 105,992 Miles This vehicle was recently removed from service. It has been a dependable vehicle for our agency; however, the rack and pinion steering assembly has failed, and the City elected not to make the repair. A repair estimate of approximately $3,500 was obtained. The vehicle is not safe to operate until repaired. 1 Working remote and several keys. Known Issues / Defects • Rack and pinion steering assembly needs repaired. • Airbag warning light is illuminated. • Sun-faded decal on both hood, and rear hatch. Most decals have been removed from sides, but some adhesive residue and small decal remnants remain. • Bubbling paint and scratches on hood. • Rust present on push bumper. • Front windshield weather stripping needs replacement. • Damage to driver's side rear door and rear quarter panel. • Damage on rear hatch near Ford emblem. • Damage to passenger-side rear quarter panel. • Three roof holes have been plugged. • Approximately 10-inch cut in floor beneath driver's seat from equipment removal. • Gun rack remains installed; no keys are available and operational condition is unknown. • Driver's seat has tears. • Air conditioning operates and blows cold, but not as cold as other fleet vehicles. Maintenance and Repairs • A/C repair and blower motor replaced – June 2022. • Tie rod, sway bar links, and throttle body replaced – August 2021. • Transmission fluid serviced at approximately 78,000 miles. • Oil pressure sensor replaced – November 2023. • Blower motor and steering wheel clock spring replaced – October 2025.
