These systems were originally released in 1947 and were specifically designed for blind/visually impaired people. They were approved by the U.S. Government and made available for purchase by eligible readers of the Library of Congress talking book program. A note on the machine indicated that it turns on, but does not spin. When this unit was tested with a microphone, we could not produce any sound. The case is wood/leatherette, item weighs ~44 lbs.
