This listing is for one (1) 1897-O Morgan Silver Dollar struck at the New Orleans Mint (O mint mark). This is an authentic 90% silver United States dollar coin in circulated condition. Struck 129 years ago during America's Gilded Age, this coin is one of the most iconic and widely collected designs in United States numismatic history — and the New Orleans issue is the most desirable of the three 1897 mint varieties among collectors. What you are bidding on: One (1) 1897-O Morgan Silver Dollar — New Orleans Mint (O mint mark) Composition: 90% silver, 10% copper — 0.7734 troy ounces of pure silver Well worn circulated condition — consistent with a coin of this era Coin has NOT been cleaned, altered, or chemically treated Photos shown are of the actual coin in this listing — please review all photos carefully before bidding About This Coin: The Morgan Silver Dollar was designed by George T. Morgan and struck from 1878 through 1904 and again in 1921. The obverse features Lady Liberty and the reverse a heraldic eagle. The 1897-O was struck at the historic New Orleans Mint and is considered the key date among the three 1897 Morgan issues. With a mintage of approximately 4 million coins — most of which circulated heavily throughout the American South — high grade examples are genuinely scarce today. With silver spot prices at historic highs every Morgan dollar carries strong bullion value in addition to its collector appeal.
