  • •California is a tax deed state. The county sells the property itself. You take ownership at the sale, subject to whatever the sale did not wipe out.
  • •Title here usually needs a quiet-title action before it's insurable or resellable.
  • •Often sold as-is and may be occupied. Budget for repairs, possible eviction, and legal costs.

Wild Desert Tours has adrenaline-filled UTV riding / ATV Riding in Los Angeles and the surrounding areas. We have the ATV Rentals / UTV Rentals that people want! Red Rock Canyon State Park - Red Rock Canyon State Park, in California, features scenic desert cliffs, buttes, and spectacular rock formations. The park is located where the southernmost tip of the Sierra Nevada converges with the El Paso Range. Each tributary canyon is unique, with dramatic shapes and vivid colors. Along Highway 14, about 20 miles north of Mojave, this park offers views of stunning red cliffs and rock formations. Ricardo Campground is the only campground in the park and is first-come, first-served. There are many hiking trails and scenic areas. **Wasteland Weekend** - There are a few times in your life when you encounter a collection of souls as extraordinary as those at Wasteland Weekend. The people are amazing, the liquor is free, the shows and parades are exhilarating, and you even have the chance to fight in the Thunderdome! The days are hot and harsh (as they should be), while the nights are wild and full of fire! I've never had a better time at any other festival in my life! **Historic Owl Cafe** - Some visitors come in thinking it’s still a cafe for dining, but it is now a Historic Cafe/Speak Easy located in the Rand Mining District (sorry, we don't serve food). It has transformed into a Mining Museum, where we also sell gold prospecting supplies and roast our coffee beans—every hundredth bag contains a real gold nugget! Additionally, we offer mining tours and gold prospecting charters. For years, I've been a security consultant selling security products and dealing with infidelity cases, which I still do occasionally. However, my true passion lies in the fascinating hobby of gold prospecting. Our area has experienced three mining booms: gold in Ransburg in 1895, tungsten and gold in Aetolia to the south in 1904, and silver here in Red Mountain in 1919. It’s a scenic and intriguing area where people come to camp, hike, off-road, and search for gold. There's another museum in Ransburg and several others in the surrounding old towns. The atmosphere here is rustic and authentic—no commercialization—but if you need to go to the city, Ridgecrest is just 20 minutes away. **Desert Tortoise Natural Area** - The Desert Tortoise Natural Area is open most of the year and is completely natural and beautiful. You may or may not spot a tortoise, as they are wild and don’t come when called. Parking is free, and on certain days, admission is free. To reach the Natural Area, take Highway 14 (the route for most travelers) towards California City, a quiet little town. Follow the sign for the Natural Area for a few miles, and you'll arrive. On weekends, there are tour guides available, but I prefer visiting on weekdays when I can explore on my own. It's a lovely place for a walk, whether you want to stroll for a bit or hike several miles, and the terrain is flat. It's never crowded, and in the distance, you can see the stunning Sierra Mountains. **Edwards AFB Outdoor Recreation** - This area is accessible by invitation only, and a background check by the Air Force is required. My wife, along with the Corvette club we belong to, received an invitation. The base is well-maintained, and we were treated cordially by the military personnel. We toured the F-35 Fighter Jet and visited the Edwards Air Force Base Museum. Covering five hundred square miles, this base restricts camera use to designated areas. This is also the site of testing for our most advanced aircraft. General Chuck Yeager famously broke the sound barrier flying the Bell X-1 here. I was in awe of the military test pilot program associated with this base. If you get invited, don’t miss the opportunity to meet the heroes who help keep America and the world safe! **Boeing NB-52B Mothership** - Known as Balls 8, this aircraft is a specially modified B-52 that was used by NASA as a mothership. While many planes are iconic—the Wright Flyer, the 707, the 747, the SR-71—none have had as profound an impact on aviation as Balls 8. This aircraft, designated as an RB-52B, was equipped with enhanced reconnaissance capabilities before being handed over to NASA, where it was adapted as a dropship for the revolutionary X-15A. Over its 49-year career, Balls 8 served as a dropship/mothership for numerous programs. Its history is illustrated on its right side with paintings depicting nearly every drop, creating a mural that tells a story of both success and failure. The humor of the men and women who flew and maintained this aircraft is also reflected through the various markings, from its nose art to chronicled misadventures.
