Condition: Fair This lot consists of one collection of four (4) wooden utility poles. The poles are approximately 40 feet long and were previously used as part of a firefighter training setup with wood platforms. The wooden platforms are not included with this auction; only the four wooden poles are being offered. Condition Summary: The poles have been marked in fair condition due to prior use and exposure to the elements. Each pole is weathered and has natural variations consistent with previously used outdoor utility poles. The poles are not perfectly symmetrical along their individual lengths and taper toward the top. The ends that were installed in the ground are wider in diameter than the upper ends that would have remained exposed. Wood Species: The exact wood species has not been confirmed. Common wood species used for utility poles in the United States include Southern Yellow Pine and Douglas Fir. Based on the visible coloration and characteristics of these poles, they are believed to be Douglas Fir. However, Western Red Cedar is also native to Alaska and can exhibit similar coloration, so Western Red Cedar cannot be ruled out. Bidders should consider the wood species unconfirmed. Dimensions Information: Approximate measurements for each pole are as follows: Pole 1: 478" long; approximately 13" base diameter and 9" top diameter. Pole 2: 479" long; approximately 11.25" base diameter and 9" top diameter. Pole 3: 480" long; approximately 12.25" base diameter and 7.25" top diameter. Pole 4: 478" long; approximately 12" base diameter and 7" top diameter. Diameter measurements were taken at the widest point of each end, as some pole ends are irregular and are not perfectly circular. Due to the limited length of the measuring tape available, each pole length was measured in two extensions rather than in a single continuous measurement. As a result, the stated lengths should be considered approximate and may vary by a few inches in either direction. Attached Hardware: The poles have screw eyes attached at various locations. The screw eyes have not been counted, and the quantity may vary from pole to pole. Some of the screw eyes also have twisted steel wire threaded through them. The quantity and individual lengths of the twisted steel wire have not been measured or accounted for. Additional Information: These poles offer substantial-length timber suitable for buyers seeking material for construction, structural projects, training applications, landscaping, or other uses where large-diameter wooden poles are appropriate. Their previous outdoor use, weathered condition, and attached hardware should be considered when determining suitability for a particular application. The four poles are being sold together as one lot. The firefighter training platforms and other components previously associated with the training setup are not included unless specifically shown as part of the auction. Bidders are encouraged to carefully review all photographs and measurements and inspect the poles in person, if possible, prior to bidding to determine their condition and suitability for the intended use. Buyers should be prepared to remove their large items on their own. The UA will not provide any equipment to aid in loading. No loader, forklift or the like will be provided for the buyer.
