Full Description

Milltronics VKM4 Series E CNC vertical mill. Manufactured 10/2001. Serial No. 10612. 220 VAC, 3-phase, 50/60 Hz, 30 amp full-load current. This machine was used by a high school robotics program and remained in use through the Spring 2026 robotics season. According to the robotics program, the CNC mill is functional. In recent years the machine has been operated with the quill kept approximately 2 cm below its highest position due to a limitation the program could not specifically recall the cause of. The machine was retired primarily because its original control software runs on Windows 98 and there is no commercially available controller upgrade known to the program. The school also wanted students to gain experience with newer enclosed CNC equipment more representative of equipment currently used in industry. The controller was upgraded in 2017 by a robotics mentor/software systems professional to accept G-code via USB thumb drive rather than floppy disk. Because of the age of the control software, compatibility with modern CAM-generated G-code is not guaranteed. Known service/repair history includes: 2022 – D&L Precision Rebuilding: collet/tool stuck in automatic drawbar 2017 – CNC Solutions: quill return There is a missing bolt on the head. According to the robotics program, the head can still be trammed, although the procedure is somewhat non-standard. Included with the machine are its CNC controller/control console, associated control components and cables, keyboard, fabricated operator/workstation structure, and additional components/accessories shown in the photographs. Buyers should review all photographs to determine the exact items included in the sale. The machine was professionally disconnected and relocated from its former classroom location to its current pickup location.
