The SmartOptics Activity 101 (often co-branded or distributed in conjunction with SensAble Technologies workflows) is an extraoral, structured-light optical 3D scanner designed specifically for dental technology and computer-aided design (CAD/CAM) of dental restorations.  Core Overview & Technology Manufacturer: smart optics Sensortechnik GmbH (Bochum, Germany).  Technology: Non-contact, white/blue-light structured light scanning (fringe pattern projection) designed to digitize physical dental plaster models, dies, and preparations.  Application: Used in dental laboratories to create digital 3D datasets (typically exported as .stl files) for designing crowns, bridges, and frameworks using dental CAD software like SensAble FreeForm or compatible platforms.  System Components: Includes a 3D optical sensor head (camera and projection unit) and a manual or flexible positioning unit/model holder for the dental casts.
