The Pediascan Model 500 by Sylvan Fiberoptics is a portable, cordless "cold-light" transilluminator widely used in Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICUs) and pediatric wards. It helps medical professionals quickly and safely locate veins for IV insertion or detect conditions like pneumothorax without causing thermal tissue damage. Features and Specifications Light Output: Emits a brilliant "cold" white light that never exceeds a tip temperature of 94° F. Intensity Control: Features a rotary dial switch allowing for variable light intensity between 0-100% to accommodate the delicate skin of very low birth-weight neonates. Design: Weighs only 1.4 lbs and includes a 4-foot long fiberoptic light pipe. Power: Runs on an internal rechargeable NiCd battery pack that delivers up to 5 hours of continuous use on a single charge The Transilluminator has been powered on. The Transilluminator has not been tested further. The Transilluminator comes with everything that is documented within the included photos and nothing more.
