Condition: As-is
Back in 1947, this Ford truck allegedly hauled a refrigerator, eight fence posts, two hunting dogs, and a man named Earl across a dry riverbed during a dust storm without complaint. Now, after sitting for many, many years in Arizona, the old truck has finally decided to take a well-earned break. This 1947 Ford truck is one of the famous “Jail Bar” Fords, named after the distinctive grille that looks suspiciously like the front entrance to a county lockup. It’s the kind of styling that makes modern trucks look overly emotional. Simple, rugged, and built when “driver assistance” meant your buddy standing outside yelling directions. The truck currently does not run and has been sitting long enough that local lizards probably consider it historic property. The tires do not hold air, which is their polite way of saying they retired years ago. The good news is it does come with the keys, so you can at least unlock the mystery yourself instead of digging through drawers hoping to find them. It also has a clean, clear Arizona title and appears as if most of the parts are all there. It’s a remarkably complete old truck waiting for someone brave, ambitious, or possibly sleep-deprived enough to bring it back. Being an Arizona truck for most, if not all, of its life, it is about as rust free as you will find. No terrifying Midwest corrosion. Just solid old steel baked dry by decades of desert heat. The 1947 Ford trucks were part of Ford’s final pre-F-Series generation before the legendary F-1 and F-100 trucks debuted in 1948. These trucks were built tough enough for post-war America, back when farmers, mechanics, and construction workers expected a truck to survive hard labor, bad roads, and questionable maintenance decisions. This isn’t a shiny restored trailer queen. It’s an honest old Jail Bar Ford with history in its dents and character in every panel. It doesn’t run. The tires are flat. It’s been sitting forever. But it’s complete, titled, and still standing proud nearly 80 years later. Would make a cool rat rod as well.
