Struck 137 years ago this coin is a genuine piece of Gilded Age American history from the height of the Old West era. Morgan and struck from 1878 through 1904 and again in 1921. The obverse features Lady Liberty with crown and flowing hair and the reverse a heraldic eagle with wings spread. The 1889 Philadelphia issue had a mintage of approximately 21.7 million coins. At 137 years old this coin was circulating during the height of the American Old West — the same year the Eiffel Tower was completed and just one year before the closure of the American frontier.
