Can you get a government auction item shipped?
| Applies to U.S. government auctions
Sometimes. Most government surplus is buyer pickup, but some sellers ship smaller items, and when they do the buyer pays.
When we read the removal terms on every live GovDeals lot on September 19, 2026 (24,623 lots, not counting real estate), 18% said the seller would ship, 37% said pickup only, and 45% did not say, which in practice usually means pickup. PropertyRoom is the exception: it ships most items from regional warehouses, though vehicles are pickup only.
Vehicles and heavy equipment almost never ship. For those, you collect them yourself or hire a hauler to collect them inside the removal window, so get a transport quote before you bid.
